The Bronx may have started it....but Brooklyn keeps on takin it! In the fall of 1979 a group of rappers from Brooklyn called the Sugarhill Gang released the hit single Rapper's Delight. Because it came from Brooklyn, many Bronx residents flouted it as derivative. The song however, pushed rap into the public eye. Since then, Brooklyn has been the birth place & home of some of the most important headz in hip hop history......Sugarhill Gang, Chub Rock, Blahzay Blahzay, Group Home, Memphis Bleek ,A Tribe Called Quest, Gang Starr - (Not born ...but Rep B.K.),Smif N Wessun, Special Ed, Sean Price, Killah Priest, AZ, MOP, Gravy, Lil Kim, Das Efx, O.C., Masta Ace, O.G.C., Buckshot, Jeru The Damaja, Shyne, Prime Minister Pete Nice,Whodini, Big Daddy Kane, Notorious BIG.
